this is a little different i was just discussing the #1 film with someone and came up with the idea. it is an accident that it got left off best horror films- it would have been #2 or #1. Not in order but at the top.
10. Them- my comments on best horror films hold true- a little cheesy now, but when I was a kid....
9. Nightmare on Elm Street- I could tell you a story about my stoner days and looking for what we thought would be a funny movie to watch stoned- it still gives me shivers.
8. The Fog- much as I like Tom Welling, not the new version- the original John Carpenter classic.
7. Primal Fear- also mentioned elsewhere- not scary as such, but the ending is so shocking, it will leave you very unnerved.
6. The Shining (mini-series version) what it lost in the campy, inferior version with Jack Nicholas, this scary book got back in the great miniseries version that King himself wrote.
5. The Stand- one of the best of the doomsday thrillers.
4. The Omega Man- I dont know if it was seeing it as a kid, but this one scared the heck out of me.
3. Halloween- the original of the genre- come on, we all jumped when he kept coming back to life.
2. Silence of the Lambs- although it is my favorite movie overall, it only comes in second here. Still it is truly scary in its depictions of killers, considering the people I work with.
1. Prince of Darkness- oh, the stories I could tell about the times I have seen this one. Never see it if you are living on the streets, or working around street people. Its funny how they will all start to look like the ones in this movie. Brilliant performances by Jameson Parker, Donald Pleasance, and Alice Cooper, who just looks scary as all get out by looking like he does on stage, and directed by John Carpenter. Nothing ever scared me like this one.

I hate scary movies... But the movies are so tempting.
I remember watching Nightmare on Elm Street and Gothika in the morning. Somehow I still had nightmares.
OR, better yet...
forgetaboutit! :)
I enjoy the "funny" scary movies...who can forget Steve Martin as the dentist and the big bossy plant that kept hollering "Feed me!"
Thanks for the memories,
Bev
