I almost forgot that the funniest show on TV, Monk, and its good sister show, Psyche, are starting their new season on Friday on USA. they are both worth getting cable for. If you cant get it, pick up earlier seasons of Monk on DVD and find out what all of the buzz is about.

Well, at last, the best show on tv is back, as am i, after a long hiatus explained somewhat on my other blog. I am writing this after watching the sunday night episodes of 24. Season 6 is off to a hot start. I am also ecstatic to see one of the actors from my favorite Star Trek series, DS9, who you dont see much anymore, Alexander Siddig, in a key role. Yes, thats the Doc from DS9- he looks different enough that I had to check a cast list to be sure. Hope the rest of the season lives up to this billing.

I admit, I didnt hold out much hope for the new season, but there are some early gems-
Vanished- as the mystery has deepened from week to week, this show has just gotten better.
Justice- already the best lawyer show in years, and the thing of showing what really happened at the end of the episode is the perfect twist.
Jericho- only one episode and I am hooked- great potential.
Smith- I dont go for heist dramas normally, but I love Ray Liotta.
Shark- a lot of potential, and I could watch Jeri Ryan anytime.
Kidnapped- another great premiere with a lot of potential.
I know there are more out there, but these are the ones that have caught my interest- let me know what I have missed.

For the first time I am happier than I can remember about the emmys. Some of the best shows on TV finally got represented all at once. My Favs:
24- at long last recognized as the best drama on TV, with Keifer Sutherland walking away with a well- deserved best actor in a drama.

Mariska Hargitay picking up another emmy for best actress in the second best drama on TV- Law and Order SVU.

Tony Shaloub getting another emmy for best actor in the best comedy series on TV- Monk.

And to think, I usually hate the Emmys

Here is an addition to my list of best family films that I just saw. I just got Nanny McPhee from Netflix and watched it, and went and got it from the video store. I know most movies I talk about are action, or violent, but this was an extrordinary movie, all that I watch family movies for. Predictable, but that isnt always bad- sometimes its a welcome change. You can just sit back and enjoy it, knowing they will all live happily ever after. This one was one of the best.
