 best songwriters

I am mixing Christian and secular in this list, in no real order but at the top.

10. Bernie Taupin/Elton John- Not everything by Elton John was by both of them, but the best stuff was collaberation stuff by far.

9. Paul Simon- he and Garfunkle are known so much for the great harmonies, but the true genius was in his lyrics.

8. Geoff Moore- although his music doesnt always do much for me, the lyrics are great.

7. The rest of the Eagles after the next pick

6. Don Henley- these two may seem a strange way of putting it, but Don's stuff definitely stands out, especially my favorite song, Hotel California

5. John Fogarty- after hearing him by himself, it was "Creedence who"? I couldnt tell the difference on the classic songs between his new band and CCR. I think he was the only one who really mattered.

4. Keith Green- a true genius of Christian music taken way before his time.

3. Rich Mullins- there are people I like better music wise, but his lyrics were incredible.

2. Fleetwood Mac- impossible to seperate out one songwriter as the best of the bunch, although Id give Stevie Nicks the edge.

1. Don Francisco- a truly great story song writer- there is no one better at making the Bible come alive in songs.

 best cartoon movies

again in no particular order except at the top.

10. Toy Story- some liked the sequel better, but this was the best. A way cool film.

9. Looney tunes, Back in Action- ok, it wasnt all cartoon, but it was brilliantly funny, with Brandon Frasier at his best.

8. Batman, Mask of the Phantasm- the first of a number of movies from the cartoon series, all very good, but this was the best.

7. Heavy Metal- a throwback to my bad old days, but still a great movie, and what a soundtrack.

6.Scooby doo on Zombie Island- I had to include one of the cartoon movies, and this was the first and probably the best. If you ever watched the old cartoons and wondered how they would react to real ghosts, it is hysterically funny to watch.

5. Shrek- What a movie, but it wasnt even as good as-

4. Shrek2- I truely loved both movies, but thought the second one was a little funnier, thanx to Antonio Banderas as Puss n' Boots.

3. Transformers the Movie- I know, a movie from a tv cartoon based on a toy, but this was an incredible movie, with a great story and animation so good that youll think its modern, not 20 or so years old. and, way before the X-files, they made some major plot twists in a tv series in a big screen movie.

2. Batman Beyond, The Return of the Joker- I have mentioned this movie on a previous list- warning, it is rated pg-13 for a reason- it is dark and violent at times, but still the best Batman movie next to Batman Begins.

1. The Lion King- where to begin- it could stand as a great drama, a great musical, a great adventure, but it stands as my vote for the greatest cartoon movie of all time.

 best Christian/Bible movies

not necessarily in order except at the top.
10. Decieved- graphically violent at times, but a very plain-spoken view of where any supernatural power besides the Holy Spirit comes from. Due to the violence, definitely not for kids, but worth seeing.

9.The "Apocalypse" series (Apocalypse, tribulation, Revelation, and Judgement) Two of them would have made it on the list on their own, so I decided to just put in the whole series- way, way better than the Left Behind movies.

8.Joseph- one of two great Bible movies with Ben Kingsley, this time in a supporting role.

7.The Passion of the Christ- I know that its being this low will shock some, but frankly, the Catholic Mythology that is mixed in has lowered it on my list, but for the first time you see it, only the number one movie comes close to it in the impact it has on you.

6.David- a great movie about my favorite man in the Bible.

5.Moses- way better and way more accurate scripturally then "The 10 Commandments", and at least Ben Kingsley looked the part of Moses.

4. Esther- another great movie, this time about my favorite woman in the Bible.

3. Jeremiah- not only a great movie, but the only film depiction of the taking of Jerusalem by the Babylonians I am aware of- if anyone can think of more, let me know, please.

2. The Apocalypse- not the same movie as "Apocalypse"mentioned above- this is an incredible movie that combines the Bible, Church and Roman history, and some poetic license (but none that conflicts with scripture) to tell the story of John recieving the Revelation, and the state of the Church and world around him. No matter what your view on the endtimes, this is a very straightforward view of the visions, with no agend, which makes this an even better movie. an absolute must see.

1. The Chronicles of Narnia, The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe (2005)- I added the date because this was the first big screen version, but not the only adaption. Where to begin- as a fan of CS Lewis for years, I hoped for something like this, but was still literally awestruck and spellbound from start to finish. The overall impact of it was second only to the first time I saw the Passion. And, you dont see the audience stand and applaud very often anymore, but it happened when I saw it.

A kind of addendum to this- I seriously considered adding the Lord of the Rings movies on this list, as most people consider the novels Christian, but will put them on my Sci Fi/fantasy list when it comes out.

 greatest comedy movies

Not necessarily in order, except at the top.

10. The Naked Gun- the first of a couple on the list with Leslie Nielsen- the show this came from, Police Squad, wouldve made my best TV shows list except they made only six episodes- it was that good, and worth getting your hands on, whatever it takes.

9. Ghostbusters- despite the awful sequel, this ranks as one of the best. Youll see more of Bill Murray on this list, too.

8. Back to School- I almost couldnt tell you why this one is here except that if it had been anybody but Rodney Dangerfield in it, it would have stunk. Yes, Rodney, youre finally getting some respect.

7. Abbot and Costello meet Frankenstein- I could have put anyone of several of their movies here, but this was definitely the best.

6. Liar Liar- ok, ok, there may be some argument on this one, but I just loved it.

5. Airplane- One of the truly great take offs- this one on airplane disaster movies, and dont call me Shirley.

4. Groundhog Day- One long, very funny Twilight Zone episode- Bill Murray at his best.

3. Caddyshack- Chevy Chase, Rodney Dangerfield, and Bill Murray as a lunitic groundskeeper- the best modern comedy ever. And, an ending to a golf tournament we all would love so see every sunday.

2. Bringing up Baby- also on my top 10 movies list.

1. Arsenic and old Lace- hey, as crazy as I am, what else for number one but a movie about a crazy family

 greatest action movies

not necessarily in order, except at top

10. Predator- one of a few with Arnold in it on here.

9. Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade- one of two from this trilogy here.

8. Terminator- hard to categorize- could have gone in at least three, but I thought of it here first. another trilogy with two on this list.

7. Rambo III- i can hear everyone screaming now, but it was the one I really liked.

6. Superman 2- yes, I think there were a few superhero films that good.

5. Terminator2- just a great movie, with the great time travel theme, which will be heavy in my Sci Fi category.

4. Spiderman2- another one of many sequels that were better than the originals.

3. XMen 2- yes, some of the best actioners were superheroe films.

2. Batman Begins- I already stated elsewhere that this was the best superhero films.

1. Raiders of the Lost Ark- I already called this the best action film on another list, so no surprise.
